How it works at R1
Diagnose. Rebuild. Test. Return.
Everything starts with a 90-minute evaluation: history, movement screen, strength testing, and sport demands. Treatment blends hands-on care, including dry needling and cupping, with progressive loading on the training floor, and BFR when tissue cannot yet take heavy weight. The last phase looks like practice: plyometrics, change of direction, sprint mechanics.
Return is earned with objective testing: side-to-side strength comparison, hop batteries, and movement quality under fatigue. That standard is the core of our ACL and return-to-sport program, and it applies to every athlete who walks in with a date circled on the calendar.
Sports PT FAQs
Straight answers
What makes sports physical therapy different from regular PT?
The finish line. Regular rehab often ends at pain-free daily life. Sports rehab ends when you can produce force, absorb landings, cut, sprint, and meet objective benchmarks for your sport. The equipment, testing, and programming reflect that.
Do you work with high school and travel athletes?
Yes, constantly: soccer, basketball, football, baseball, hockey, volleyball, track, and more. We coordinate with parents, coaches, and athletic trainers, and every plan targets a return-to-play date backed by testing rather than guesswork.
My athlete was cleared but does not look right. Can you test them?
Yes. We run objective return-to-sport batteries: side-to-side strength comparison, hop testing, and movement quality under fatigue. A calendar date is not clearance; numbers are.
I am not an elite athlete. Is this still for me?
If you train, run, ski, golf, or play anything, you are athlete enough. Most of our patients are working adults who want to keep doing their sport. The standard of care does not change with your level.
